OpenZCine turns your Android phone or tablet into a production monitor and remote control for supported Nikon Z cameras, with current testing centered on the Nikon ZR.
Connect over local Wi-Fi or USB-C, monitor live view, and keep key camera information visible while you work. Check recording state, timecode, battery, storage, temperature, resolution, frame rate, codec, and connection health.
Control recording and camera settings including ISO, shutter, iris, white balance, focus, resolution, frame rate, and codec. Evaluate the image with professional monitoring tools including waveform, RGB parade, histogram, vectorscope, false color, zebras, focus peaking, framing guides, grids, level, and de-squeeze.
Browse and review camera clips, cache media locally, and share selected files. The Wear OS companion provides at-a-glance status and remote record control.
OpenZCine is open source. It has no subscriptions, paywalls, advertising, or telemetry. Camera control and live view stay on your local connection. Hardware support is actively tested; Nikon ZR is the primary target for this closed beta.
