What 1.1.1.1 with WARP is for

1.1.1.1 with WARP is a free Cloudflare app for keeping your Internet use private and safer on your phone. The developer presents it as a way to connect securely wherever you are, so the same setup covers home Wi-Fi, mobile data and public networks.

It works in two parts: a DNS resolver, which is the service your phone asks to turn website names into addresses, and a WARP connection that carries your traffic. Setup is a single tap.

Encrypting traffic and the speed claims

WARP replaces the link between your phone and the Internet with what the developer calls a modern, optimized protocol. It encrypts more of the traffic leaving the phone, so network operators and others on the same connection see less of what you do.

The developer says it measures thousands of network paths every second to pick the fastest one, and that the same technology makes thousands of websites about 30% faster on average. Those figures are the developer's own and are not measured here.

DNS settings, Families mode and blocking threats

The DNS settings inside the app include an option to turn on 1.1.1.1 for Families. The listing says this is the setting to use when you want a family-friendly filter on the phone.

The developer also says the app protects against malware, phishing and crypto mining. It presents this as part of the same service, so no separate tool needs to be installed for it.

Trusted Networks and the WARP+ upgrade

Trusted Networks lets WARP recognise networks you already use, such as home Wi-Fi, so devices like printers and TVs on that network keep working. Using it depends on the Trusted Networks setting and on sharing your precise location through the device settings.
