A fast-paced crossword battle
Senior reviews editor
1v1 Crossword Go! is a two-player word game built on crossword grids. You play against another person or a computer opponent, taking turns to fill the board, so the game is about the score as much as the answers.
It suits people who like crosswords and want a head-to-head format rather than solving alone. It is rated 3+ on Google Play and listed under Game.
The build we hold is 1v1 Crossword Go! 1.16.0 (APKS split bundle) for Android 8.0 and up.

Each turn you receive five letters and have 60 seconds to place them on the board. The clues sit inside the grid cells, and you use the clue in each cell to work out which letters form correct words.
A match runs until the board is full. The player with the highest score at that point wins.
Points come from three things: placing letters, completing words, and using all five of your tiles in one turn. Because of the all-five bonus, you can decide whether to play every tile at once or keep one back.
Keeping a letter for a later turn is the main tactical choice the listing describes. The developer presents it as a way to turn a game around.
The puzzles use the Scandinavian crossword layout, where clues are written inside the grid rather than in a separate list. Some puzzles replace written clues with pictures, so you work out the answer from an image.
Picture clues appear only in some puzzles, so a match can mix text and image clues on the same board.
You can challenge a friend to a match, or be paired with a random opponent. If you want to start straight away, you can play against bots instead of waiting for another person.
All three options use the same turn rules and scoring, so the mode you pick changes only who you are playing against.
