What 8 Ball Live is and who it suits

8 Ball Live is an 8-ball pool game for Android that is built around playing other people online. Its listing describes it as a multiplayer game with video chat, so most of its features involve a live opponent rather than a computer player. It is rated for ages 3 and up on Google Play and falls under the Sports category there.

The listing says it has more than 10,000,000 installs on Google Play. Its main draw is the mix of live matches, video chat and the option to play with people you already know.

Matches against players around the world

The core mode pairs you with other players in real-time 8-ball games. The listing says you compete with people from all over the world, so opponents are not limited to a local group.

Shots are taken on 3D tables, and the listing describes the style as arcade. It also mentions a set of detailed pool tables, so the table design is part of the presentation.

Playing with Facebook friends and private rooms

The listing says you can play with your Facebook friends. This gives a way to pick a known opponent instead of being matched with a stranger.

You can also open a private billiard room for a game with friends. The room is separate from the public matches, so a group can play among themselves.

Video chat during online games

Video chat is built into the online matches. The listing presents it as a core part of the game, so you can talk to and see your opponent while you play.

The listing does not describe how video chat is switched on or off, or how it works with the private rooms. It only says the chat is part of the online game.
