AdGuard DNS: connect every device to a secure DNS server
By Kelvin Ooi
Security and privacy editor
- Secure DNS server connection for phones, tablets, laptops and routers
- Protection from online threats at the DNS level
- Home network protection that covers every connected device
- Consistent device management for schools, universities and companies
- Needs an AdGuard DNS account to sign in
- Developer states no tracking, personal data collection or third-party ad SDKs
What the AdGuard DNS app is for
This is the client side of the AdGuard DNS service. The app does nothing on its own until you sign in with an AdGuard DNS account, which you create or log into on the developer's site. Support is handled through the developer's support center.
Its job is to send a device's DNS lookups to AdGuard's privacy-oriented server rather than the default resolver, which the developer says guards against online threats.
Devices it works on
The listing says the app runs on phones, tablets and laptops, and on routers, with no device restrictions. Because the protection sits at the DNS layer, the same account can cover several devices at once.
Routers are the route to covering a whole network, so every device that joins it gets the same DNS path without installing anything on each one.
Home networks and managed device groups
The developer names home networks as the core use. It also positions the service for schools, universities and companies that need to run many devices under the same setup.
For an organization, the point is consistency: one account and one DNS configuration applied across multiple machines, rather than settings adjusted device by device.
Privacy commitments stated by the developer
According to the developer, the app does not track users, does not collect personal data and does not embed third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. These are the developer's own statements, and the listing links to a privacy policy for the full terms.
The app's stated purpose is traffic control through the DNS server, and its privacy claims are presented alongside that purpose rather than as a separate feature.
