Age of Empires Mobile is a real-time strategy game built on the Age of Empires series, adapted for touchscreen play. You start with nothing and build a kingdom by gathering resources, training armies and researching technologies. The listing says it suits fans of the franchise and of the strategy genre more broadly.
The game includes in-game purchases, and the listing notes that some of them are random items. Players in alliances can coordinate attacks and defence, so much of the play is shared with other people.
Resource gathering and military building are the core of the early game. You collect materials, spend them on structures and troops, and develop new technologies to strengthen your forces. The listing describes the work as building and defending a kingdom from scratch.
Waves of enemies arrive as a recurring threat, so a base has to hold as well as grow. Defence is part of the normal rhythm of play rather than a separate mode.
Battles take place in medieval cities that are set up as battlegrounds. You can aim at archer towers, break through gates and take control of central structures. The listing presents these city layouts as interactive, so the terrain you fight over is part of the tactics.

Heroes are the other major choice. The listing names over 70, including Joan of Arc, Leonidas, Julius Caesar, Miyamoto Musashi, Hua Mulan and Rani Durgavati. Heroes combine their own attributes with the troop types you lead, so your force is built from both.
You control up to five troops at once and move them freely across large maps. The listing says mastering the controls takes practice, since everything happens in real time.
Siege weapons include trebuchets, battering rams, escalades, alliance towers and airships. The listing presents them as ways to support your alliance in close fights and to gain an advantage in battles against other players.
