What the Air Canada and Aeroplan app covers

Air Canada + Aeroplan is the official Air Canada app, and it also connects to Aeroplan, Air Canada's loyalty program. It covers three jobs: booking a flight, managing your Aeroplan account, and following a trip from check-in to baggage claim. The listing aims it at travellers who hold Aeroplan points or Elite status and want those in the same app they use to fly.

Most of the account features need you to sign in with your Aeroplan details. Without that sign-in, the listing describes only the trip-level features.

Booking flights with cash, points or both

You can pay for a flight in cash, redeem Aeroplan points, or split the fare between points and cash. The listing says taxes, fees and charges can be covered entirely with points, so a booking can be paid for without any cash.

The payment choice is made within the booking itself. The listing does not describe a separate points-only search.

Checking Aeroplan points, Elite status and rewards

After signing in with Aeroplan, the app shows your points balance, your progress toward the next Elite status tier, and your recent points transactions. These are the same account details you would otherwise look up on the Aeroplan website.

The signed-in account also gives access to the Aeroplan eStore, car rental booking and hotel booking. The listing describes these as places to spend points or book travel without leaving the app.

Following flight status and bags on the day of travel

Live updates show boarding, gate changes and flight status. The listing says these appear on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island, so you can check them without opening the app.

Bag tracking follows each checked bag from drop-off to the carousel. Notifications are sent at each stage, including when you need to collect a bag at a connecting airport and when it reaches the arrival carousel.
