What this Amex test tool is for

The app is a test tool for point of sale software that needs to accept American Express contactless cards and Consumer Presented QR codes. It is aimed at the people who build, run or certify those systems: merchants, payment processors, acquirers, POS vendors, independent service operators, value added resellers and gateways.
