What Animal Sounds and Ringtones is for

Animal Sounds and Ringtones is a personalization app that puts animal calls on your phone. Its main use is choosing an animal noise as the tone for calls, texts, alarms or notifications. It also works as a sound library and a short reference on the animals themselves.

It suits people who want a change from standard tones, and anyone who likes listening to animal recordings. The developer describes the sounds as high-quality, and the listing gives no further detail on the recordings.

Setting animal calls as ringtones and alerts

Any sound in the app can be set as a ringtone, an SMS tone, a notification sound or an alarm tone. This is the feature most of the app is built around. The developer says the sounds are free to use for these purposes, and that a variety of animal noises is included without a purchase.

Because the same sound can serve several roles, you can use a bird call for your alarm and a different animal for messages. The listing does not say how many sounds are included.

Browsing animal sounds by group and listening offline

The sounds are sorted into eight groups: birds, farm animals, wild animals, pet animals, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, insects, and water animals. You pick a group first, then choose a sound from it. Sorting this way makes it easier to find, say, a farm animal call without scrolling through everything.

The listing says the sounds can be played offline, so you can listen anywhere without a connection. The listing does not say whether the sound library is downloaded to the device in full.

Reading about the animals behind each sound

Alongside the sounds, the app includes written information about the animals. For each one, the listing names the species, its scientific classification and its etymology, which is the origin of the name. The developer presents this as a way to learn while listening.

This section is mainly useful for someone who wants to know what made a call, rather than just setting it as a tone. The listing does not describe how the information is laid out within the app.
