What the floating panel is for on Android

Assistive Touch for Android places a floating icon on the screen that opens a control panel. The listing says the panel is meant to give quick access to device settings and to take over some work from the physical buttons, which it says it helps protect.

The size, opacity and color of both the panel and its icon can be changed. The listing describes the app as free.

Navigation keys, quick toggles and system controls

The panel carries back, home and recent-apps keys, so these can be pressed on screen instead of with hardware buttons. Its quick switches cover Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, the flashlight, airplane mode, location and power.

Other controls adjust screen brightness, the screen timeout and the volume up and down buttons, and switch the phone between regular, silent and vibrate sound modes. The panel can also expand the notification shade, open device control, lock the screen and rotate the screen.

Recording the screen with system and mic audio

The built-in screen recorder starts, pauses and ends with one tap, and the listing says it needs no root access and has no time limit. Recordings carry no watermark.

Video can be set to SD, HD, Full HD or Ultra HD, with a custom bitrate and frame rate. The recorder captures both internal audio and microphone audio, and finished files save automatically to the system album.

Screenshots, launching apps and clearing junk

A screenshot control takes a capture and saves it automatically to local storage. The panel also lists all installed apps and lets you pin favorite apps for direct launch.

The listing also names a junk removal function, which clears unneeded files from the device.
