What the authenticator app is for
OneAuth is a two-factor authentication app from Zoho. It holds the one-time codes that sites and services ask for when you sign in, so the second step of login happens on your phone. The listing names Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn as examples of accounts you can protect this way.
It suits anyone who wants two-factor login on the accounts they already use, and who would rather keep those codes in a dedicated app than in a text message.
Adding accounts and generating login codes
You add an account either by scanning its QR code or by entering the details by hand. Once added, OneAuth produces time-based OTPs for that account, which change at set intervals.
The listing says these codes can be read without a network connection, so you can sign in on a phone that is offline. Home screen shortcuts give quick access to the main actions without opening the app first.
Encrypted backup and moving accounts to a new phone
Accounts are backed up in encrypted form. Recovery is done with a passphrase that you choose, and the developer says only you know it, so it is the key to restoring accounts if a device is lost or broken.
OneAuth also syncs the OTP secrets across your devices, so the same accounts show up wherever you have the app installed.
Using OneAuth on a Wear OS watch
The app runs on Android and on Wear OS. On a watch you can see your 2FA codes without taking out the phone.
The watch app also shows sign-in push notifications, so you can approve a sign-in from your wrist when you are away from the phone.
