What Avast VPN Proxy & Privacy is for
Avast VPN Proxy & Privacy is a VPN app from Avast Software for Android phones and tablets, with a version for Android TV. It sends your internet connection through a private tunnel, so sites see the tunnel rather than your own connection. The developer aims it at people who want to reach restricted sites and apps, browse without being identified, or stay safer on open networks.
Reaching restricted sites and browsing anonymously
The listing says the app gives access to restricted online sites and apps. Its summary describes using the mobile browser anonymously through the private tunnel. Anonymous browsing is the main use the developer names for the phone version.
Using a VPN on public WiFi hotspots
The developer names public WiFi hotspots as the place to use the app. The idea is to protect yourself on a network you do not control. Browser activity on the phone runs through the same private tunnel.
Streaming on Android TV
The app is listed as available on all Android TV supported devices, so it can be installed on a smart TV. The developer presents it as a way to stream favorite content on the TV while keeping privacy protected. The listing describes the TV version as the same VPN used on phones.
