What the app is for

Background remover - remove.bg is a phone app that separates a person or object from the rest of a photo. The developer points to profile pictures and product photos as the main uses, and says designers, photographers and businesses use it.

It is meant for quick edits made away from a desktop. The listing presents it as a replacement for manual masking work in professional editing software, not as a full photo editor.

Cutting a subject out of a photo

You upload a photo, and the app's artificial intelligence finds the subject and separates it from the background. The listing says this takes about 5 seconds and needs no manual tracing.

The developer says the cutout keeps difficult edges such as hair and other fine detail intact, with no leftover background pixels around the subject. The finished image can be saved to the camera roll.

Replacing the background
