What Bible Audio is for

Bible Audio is a Bible listening app from HarperCollins Christian Publishing, aimed at listening during a commute, while doing chores, or as you fall asleep. It plays Bible audio over an internet connection and shows the matching text alongside it. The developer presents the core app as free, with a paid Bible Audio Gold subscription for additional translations and offline access.

Translations and narration styles

The app covers the New International Version, the King James Version, the New International Reader’s Version and the Spanish Nueva Versión Internacional (NVI). The listing says text and audio are both available for every one of them. For the NIV, KJV and NVI you can choose between Dramatized and Voice-only narration, so the same passage can be heard in either style.

Following the text and moving around the Bible

Text and audio stay synchronized, so you can read along while you listen. The developer also says you can jump quickly to any point in the Bible, which helps if you want to start mid-book or return to a passage you heard earlier.

Memorizing passages and pacing a listening session

You can set a chapter or verse to repeat, which the listing presents as a way to memorize Scripture. A sleep timer lets you set a stopping point, and the listing also describes it as a way to set a daily time goal in the Word. Playback speed can be raised or lowered, so you can slow a passage down or move through familiar text faster.
