Total protection for your phone security: Antivirus, Malware scan, Scam defense
By Kelvin Ooi
Security and privacy editor
Bitdefender Mobile Security is a security app for Android phones and tablets, sold under the name Mobile Security & Antivirus. The developer describes it as guarding against viruses, malware and online threats while keeping personal data private. It suits anyone who wants one security app on an Android device that also handles calls and scams.
The listing names three areas: antivirus, malware protection and scam defense. Most of the detail on the page concerns the call blocking feature, which the developer calls new.
The build we hold is Bitdefender Mobile Security 3.3.331.2585 (APKS split bundle) for Android 6.0 and up.

The call blocking feature is the newest addition the listing highlights. The developer says it runs on the same detection engine used in its antivirus products. It also says the feature has been improved with input from its global user base.
The listing does not describe how call blocking decides which numbers to stop, or which call types it covers. It only states the detection engine and user input as its basis.
The antivirus side of the app is aimed at viruses and online threats on the device. Scam defense is listed as its own protection alongside it. The developer also says the app keeps personal data safe, though the listing does not say which data types or how.
Taken together, the protections are meant to sit in one app rather than several. A user who wants only call blocking, or only antivirus, would still install the same package.
The developer says the app has minimal impact on battery life. It cites eight wins for Best Android Security Product from AV-Test. The listing states that the app can be tried free for the first 14 days.
These claims come from the developer's own listing. They are reported here as the developer's statements, not as tested results.
