What Bitwarden is and who it suits
Bitwarden is a password manager. It stores your usernames and passwords in one place, so you do not have to remember each one, and it can also hold passkeys, the newer login method that replaces a typed password.
The core use is the same for a single person and for a company: one locked vault that you open on your phone or in a browser. The listing also describes separate business plans for teams, covered further down.
Storing logins in an encrypted vault
Passwords sit in a vault that is end-to-end encrypted, which the listing describes as readable only by the account holder. You can keep an unlimited number of passwords and passkeys, and the listing says they can be used across any number of devices without restrictions.
The vault is the part you would open each time you sign in to a site or app. Premium plans add advanced features on top of it, but the listing does not tie the basic vault to a paid tier.
Generating a unique password for each account
The built-in generator makes strong, random passwords, so each site or app gets its own. The listing presents this as the way to limit the damage when one service is breached and its passwords leak.
The generated password is saved to the vault when you create it, so you do not have to copy it into a note or remember it yourself.
Passkeys on the phone and in the browser
Bitwarden can create, store and sync passkeys. Passkeys saved in the mobile app are available in the browser extensions too, so one login method works across the devices you use.
The listing frames this as passwordless sign-in that works wherever you log in, without a separate password to type.
Free, Premium and Teams plans
The free version is free to use, carries no ads, and the listing says it does not sell data. Premium plans give access to advanced features.
Teams and Enterprise plans add business features the listing names directly: SSO integration, self-hosting, directory integration, SCIM provisioning, global policies, API access and event logs.
What's new
- Fixed passkey sign-in failing on some sites
- Fixed Clear clipboard not clearing copied items
