What the BlackVue app is for
This is the official companion app for BlackVue dashcams. It works in two ways: a direct Wi-Fi connection to the camera when you are nearby, or BlackVue Cloud, which reaches the camera over the car's mobile or built-in internet connection.
The listing presents it for owners of BlackVue cameras who want to see what is happening around a parked or moving car from a phone or tablet. Cloud access is tied to a Cloud-compatible BlackVue model.
Watching and locating your car through BlackVue Cloud
Live View shows the camera feed in real time, and GPS Tracking shows where the car is. The listing also names Explore and Event Map among the app's features without describing them in detail.
Creating a BlackVue Cloud account is free. After you sign up, you register the camera in the app and set it to connect to your hotspot. Cloud access depends on that connection, so the camera needs a working mobile or car-embedded internet link.
Playing back and adjusting the camera over Wi-Fi
A direct Wi-Fi connection gives access to every video stored on the dashcam's microSD card. Video Playback runs those recordings on the phone.
The same connection lets you adjust the camera angle and change the camera's settings from the app.
Backing up footage, reports and voice calls
The listing names Video Backup and Live Event Upload, which move footage off the camera, along with Reports and a Voice Call option. It does not describe how these work beyond their names.
These features sit alongside Live View and GPS Tracking in the same app, so footage and location can be checked from one place.
Updating dashcam firmware wirelessly
The app applies firmware updates to the dashcam over the air, which the listing calls FOTA. This removes the need to connect the camera to a computer for updates.
The update runs through the same wireless link the app uses for setup and settings.
