What Blindstory is for

Blindstory is a companion app for Instagram. It lets you watch stories, download them to your phone and keep copies of reels, highlights and photos. The listing describes it as covering three uses: viewing, downloading and saving.

Anyone who wants to keep a story after it expires, or look at a profile's stories without the usual Instagram view, is the audience it describes. Everything it saves is stored on the device itself.

Viewing stories and profiles without a seen mark

The viewer plays stories in HD and in fullscreen. The listing says it does this without adding the viewer to the story's seen list, so the account posting the story should not see that you watched it.

A search box takes a username or a profile link, and the app then shows that account's stories and highlights. Profile pictures can be zoomed and saved at full resolution.

Saving stories, reels, highlights and photos

Downloads are one tap each. The listing names HD videos, reels, stories, highlights and photos as the kinds of content it saves, and says this works for both public and private stories.

Saved items stay on the phone, so a story can be watched later with no internet connection. This is the main use the listing gives for downloading rather than just viewing.

Automatic story downloads with Story Magnet

Story Magnet is a setting that watches the accounts you choose and saves their new stories as they appear, without a manual download each time. It can also send a notification when a new story from one of those accounts is posted.

Every new photo or video it picks up is kept on the device. The listing presents it as a way to avoid missing a story before it expires.
