What it blocks and who it suits

BlockSite , Block porn ,BlockP is a content blocker for Android. Its main job is filtering NSFW and other explicit material. The developer also lists gambling apps, online games, dating apps and social media as things it can block.

Most of the control sits in switches and lists you set yourself. One toggle covers adult content, and you add your own sites or apps when the default filter is not enough. It suits someone who wants fewer distractions on their phone, or who is trying to break a habit like watching adult material or spending too long on social media.

Filtering adult sites, search results and words

The adult content filter is the main switch. The developer says mature and explicit content is fully filtered once it is on. Specific websites or apps can be added to a block list alongside it.

Safe search filters adult results in Google and Bing. It also turns on restricted mode in YouTube, which hides adult videos. Both work without any setup beyond turning the feature on.

The word filter lets you enter a word or phrase such as "adult video". Any web page containing it is filtered on browsers and apps. The developer describes this for people who are triggered by particular kinds of content.

The VPN option is separate and off unless you turn it on. Switching on "block across browsers (VPN)" blocks adult website domains and enforces safe search at the network level, so it applies across browsers. When adult content is blocked on screen, a block window appears over it.

Cutting down social media, games and distracting apps

The social media blocker works from a database covering social media sites and apps. If you try to open one on the list, it is blocked straight away. The developer says new websites are added constantly, so the list keeps growing.

The game blocker covers online gaming websites of all kinds. Block distracting apps lets you choose apps such as Instagram, Twitter or YouTube. Anything on that blocklist cannot be opened while the block is active.

A single toggle blocks gambling apps and websites. This one needs a subscription, so it is not part of the free feature set.

Accountability partner and uninstall alerts

The accountability partner is a friend the app pairs you with. They help you stay accountable to the goals you set. The developer says giving up a habit is hard on your own, which is the reason for the pairing.

If you uninstall the app, a notification goes to your accountability partner saying you have removed it. The point of this is that the removal is known to someone else, so reinstalling or switching off the blocker is not a private decision.

The community is a feed of people working on the same habits. The developer puts its size at over 100,000 members. You can post to the whole community, and the developer describes it as a place where users fight bad habits together.

Articles and video courses on urges and relapse

The app includes articles and video courses written by people the developer calls experts. Topics named in the listing are dealing with urges, improving your relationship, and why it is hard to quit.

If you want to talk through a specific urge, the community or your accountability partner is the place to do it. The courses and articles cover the reasons behind the habit rather than the blocking itself.
