What Braincup is and who it suits

Braincup is a collection of short brain games by Simon Schubert, sold as a paid app at 1.48. Its games fall into four areas the listing names: memory, focus, logic and math. Each game is a separate, self-contained round, so the set suits people who want brief sessions of arithmetic or recall rather than one long puzzle.

Mental arithmetic and number games

Several games are built around calculation. Mental Calculation chains expressions so that each result becomes the starting point for the next. Chain Calculation asks you to work through a formula one step at a time, while Sherlock Calculation gives you a set of numbers and operators and a target to reach.

Fraction Calculation covers fraction problems. Quick Sum flashes numbers on screen one at a time, and you enter the total once they stop. Bubble Sum asks you to add up the numbers printed on floating bubbles.

Memory, recall and attention tasks

Ghost Grid lights up a sequence of tiles, and you tap them back in the same order. Visual Memory shows a set of shapes to memorize, then asks you to pick out the hidden one from a later display. Orbit Tracker has you follow highlighted balls as they move around the screen.

Flash Crowd briefly shows dots on two sides and asks you to tap the side that flashed more. Color Confusion asks you to tap the ink color of a color word rather than the word itself.

Logic puzzles, Mini Chess and Learn Math lessons

Anomaly Puzzle asks you to find the figure that stands out from the rest. Pattern Sequence has you work out the rule along each row and complete the grid. Path Finder has you follow arrows from a marked start point. Colored Shapes asks you to add up points from the statements that are correct.

Mini Sudoku uses the standard rule that each row, column and block contains each digit once. Mini Chess sets up a scenario you finish playing as white against the CPU. The listing also describes Learn Math lessons that award certificates.
