What kind of solitaire game this is
Card Crawl 2 is a solitaire-style dungeon crawler. It is the sequel to the original Card Crawl, and it keeps the setting: you battle Hoerni and his friends from the tavern, one card fight at a time.
The game suits people who like solitaire puzzles with a fantasy battle layer and a collection to grow over time.
Building a dungeon of up to 16 cards
The main change from the first game is the dungeon itself. The original used 4 dungeon cards. Here you play with up to 16 cards stacked across 4 columns.
You work through that layout by sorting the cards, equipping heroes and selling cards you no longer need, with the aim of getting past each monster in the deck.
Equipment, spells and gold
Equipment items are new in this sequel and can be added to a run. The developer describes them as a separate layer of strategy on top of the card puzzle.
Spell cards are another addition. You collect gold during play, and gold, along with progress, is used to unlock spell cards, new equipment and hero cards.
Game modes and hero collection
The game includes a range of offline and online modes. The developer says these are built to test each of the new hero types.
Collecting is part of the loop. You grow your set of hero cards as you unlock them, and the set includes both new heroes and returning favourites from the first game.
