Chess game review for players who study their games
Chessis is a chess analysis app built around going back over games that have already been played. It runs the Stockfish 19 engine across a game and presents the result as a lesson, showing which moves helped and which ones cost material or position.
The main audience is players who want to understand their losses rather than just see a final result. The bots and opening material are there for practice between reviews.
Game reports and move badges
Each analysed game gets a report with an accuracy figure, an estimated rating and a breakdown by phase of the game. A separate list of key moments picks out the turning points and explains them in plain language.
Every move carries a badge running from Brilliant down to Blunder. Tapping a Blunder opens a "Why Blunder?" view that shows the idea that was missed, drawn on the board where the move was played.
Retrying mistakes and importing your games
Retry Mistakes returns you to the critical positions from a game so you can look for the stronger move again. The aim is to find the better move yourself rather than read it off the report.
Games can come from Chess.com or Lichess accounts, from PGN files, or from a photo of a physical board scanned with the camera. That means over-the-board games can be reviewed alongside online ones.
Practice games against human-style bots
The bots are set up to play in recognisable human styles: aggressive, defensive or natural, at a range of levels. You can play casually or with a clock.
During a game, blunder alerts warn you before a poor move is made. Hints, takebacks and move-strength feedback are also available, so a game can be used as a learning session rather than a test.
Opening names, main lines and trap practice
The opening explorer lists chess openings by name with their main lines, so you can see the typical continuations for each one.
Trap training drills well-known opening traps repeatedly, letting you practise spotting and playing the right response until it becomes automatic.
