Clip Studio Paint is a digital drawing and painting app, and the developer aims it mainly at character art. Building layered artwork and colour
A single drawing can hold up to 10,000 layers, which is useful when line art, shading and colour need to stay separate and editable. Gradient maps let you control colour by remapping the tones in a piece, so you can shift a whole palette without repainting each area.
Snap helps place objects quickly by pulling them to guides or set points, which keeps repeated elements aligned without manual nudging.
Posing figures and reshaping line art
3D pose models give you a figure you can position, so foreshortened arms, twisted torsos and other hard angles can be worked out before the final drawing. Puppet warp lets you bend and move parts of an existing drawing without redrawing them.
Liquify works on several layers at the same time, so you can adjust line art and colour together rather than fixing each layer separately.
Live reference, timelapse and saving your work
Live video capture lets you film a hand pose or other reference in real time and draw from it, which suits poses that are hard to find in photos. Timelapse recording saves the drawing process as a video that you can share on social media.
On a tablet, saving or exporting artwork requires an annual or monthly plan, and paid plans include cloud storage of 10 GB along with new features and materials. The listing says the first plan can come with up to three months free on tablet.
