What Complete Ear Trainer is for

Complete Ear Trainer is an ear training app for musicians. It works on relative pitch, the ability to recognise notes by their distance from one another, along with aural skills and music theory. The drills cover intervals, chords and scales, which are the building blocks most musicians need to hear quickly.

The developer presents it as useful for anyone who makes music by ear or by ensemble work. The listing names improvisation, composition, arrangement, interpretation, singing and playing in a band as areas it is meant to support.

How the game structure paces your practice

The app is designed like a video game, and the developer says this is built on teaching principles about sequence. You work through one interval, chord or scale at a time.

You do not move on until you have mastered the current item. The listing says this is meant to make sure each element is fully learned before the next one is introduced, so progress depends on your results rather than on the calendar.

Ear training for improvising, composing and arranging

Relative pitch is the core skill here. A musician who can name an interval or a chord by ear can follow a progression, pick out a line, or hear a melody before playing it.

The developer ties these drills to the creative side of music. Improvisation, composition and arrangement all rely on hearing harmonic relationships, and the listing says the app is meant to strengthen those abilities.

Using the app for singing and band playing

Singers and instrumentalists who play in a band need to match pitch and hear how parts fit together. The listing presents the app as training for both, since aural skills apply whether you sing or play.

Because the training covers intervals, chords and scales in sequence, the skills build on each other. The developer frames the result as stronger aural skills for group performance.
