Countdown Widget・Countdown app

What the countdown timer is for

This is a countdown timer for the home screen that also sends reminders about upcoming dates. The developer describes its design as minimalist. Typical uses include birthday and vacation countdowns, but it also covers retirement dates, wedding days, baby due dates and other personal milestones.

You can keep as many countdowns as you want, so one install can track a long list of separate events. Each countdown is its own timer, which makes it suited to people who follow several dates at once.

Choosing units and repeating events

Each countdown can show the time left in days, weeks, months or years, so a wedding can read as months away while a trip reads as days. The unit is set per event rather than for the whole app.

Events can also be marked as recurring. The timer then supports events that come around again, such as an annual birthday or anniversary, instead of needing a new entry each year.

Reminder notifications for upcoming events

The app sends notifications to remind you of an event before it arrives. You choose which type of notification each reminder uses. The developer presents this as the main reason the app is a reminder tool as well as a timer.

Colors, fonts and themes for each countdown

Colors and fonts can be changed separately for every countdown, so the widget for a holiday can look different from the one for a due date. A themes gallery offers ready-made styles that can also be applied to each timer one at a time.

Because styling is per countdown, a set of home screen timers can be made to look distinct at a glance.

Importing and sharing important dates

Dates can be imported from your device calendar, so events already saved there can become countdowns without retyping them. Countdowns can also be shared with friends, for example to tell someone about an upcoming wedding or trip.
