- Cat meows mixed into pop music
- Global hits and independent songs in one game
- Tile patterns that follow cats dancing on keys
What kind of game this is
Dancing Cats combines a rhythm game with a piano tile game. The developer describes it as an arcade music game built around cats, so it suits people who enjoy both music games and cartoon cats.
Each tile you hit is tied to the music, so the game is about keeping time with the song rather than reading a story or a map.
Tapping tiles to the music
The main play is matching tiles as they reach you. The developer says each step is meant to look like cats dancing across piano keys, so the movement on screen follows the song.
The listing calls the tile matching challenging, which suggests the patterns get harder to keep up with as a song goes on.
Cat meows and pop music
The soundtrack is a mix of cat meowing and pop music. The developer presents this as a single sound, with the meows sitting inside the beat rather than playing as separate effects.
The meows give each track a playful character that the game uses as its theme.
Songs you can play
The developer says the game includes both global hit songs and independent music, so the track list covers well-known pop along with less mainstream artists.
Players who know a particular song may recognise it under the cat treatment, since the game keeps the original music under the meows.
