Darkrise is a pixel-style action RPG made by two indie developers. The hero's homeland has been overrun by goblins, undead, demons and invaders from neighboring countries, and the hero has to grow stronger and push them out.

It suits players who want quick, moment-to-moment combat in a retro look, with a clear progression of stronger gear over a long run of fights.

Choosing a class and moving through the locations

You pick one of four classes: Mage, Warrior, Archer or Rogue. The listing says each has its own skills, mechanics, strengths and weaknesses, so the way you move and fight changes with the choice.
