What Defender II is and who it suits
Defender II is a tower defense game set around a castle under attack. Monsters come in waves, move quickly and get tougher as the stages go on, and the player's job is to stop them reaching the walls. The listing rates it for ages 7 and up.
The game is built around a bow, a castle wall with health that can be upgraded, and a set of spells that run on mana. Two modes are listed: a local mode of waves to clear, and a battle mode against an opponent. The listing describes it as a version with new features added to the original Defender.
Shooting arrows and casting spells in defense
Arrows are fired either by touch on the screen or with a joypad. Spells are cast by dragging a spell icon into place, or by using the joypad. Mana is spent on each spell, so the player has to choose when to cast.
Two shot types change the fight. Power shot repels monsters, pushing them back from the wall. Fatal Blow deals double damage with a certain chance on each hit.
Upgrades for the castle, bows and towers
The city wall can be upgraded to raise its health. Strength increases the damage each arrow does, and Agility increases how often the bow shoots. The player can also select and equip a different bow for the defense.
Two structures help in the field. Lava moats burn enemies that fall into them. Magic towers produce the mana that spells need, and they also attack enemies on their own. The update summary adds a lava moat, a magic tower, a research center and new crossbows to the existing set.
Local waves mode and battle mode
In local mode the player defeats waves of monsters, with each stage bringing stronger intruders and new bosses. Bosses come in as the stages progress.
Battle mode pits the player against an opponent. The one who stays in the fight longer is the winner.
