What DER SPIEGEL's news app covers

DER SPIEGEL - Nachrichten is the news app from DER SPIEGEL, and it brings the publisher's daily coverage to a phone. The listing credits more than 500 journalists with the reporting. Topics include politics, business, the wider world, sport and culture.

It suits readers who want the newsroom's daily reporting and the weekly magazine in one app.

Following the day's headlines

The start page shows the most important stories and current headlines from the newsroom, drawn from business, politics, sport and culture. It also includes selected SPIEGEL+ pieces chosen by the news desk.

The central navigation gives direct entry to politics and world headlines, the audio offering, and the weekly digital issue with the other digital magazines in one overview.

Reading the weekly issue and digital magazines

The app carries the digital weekly SPIEGEL and lists it with the publisher's other digital magazines in a single overview. The weekly issue and the other titles sit beside the daily headlines rather than in a separate place.

Briefings, background reporting and audio

The listing describes compact briefings for a quick summary of the news, and longer reportage pieces for reading in depth. It also stresses background coverage that explains how events connect.

The audio offering has its own entry in the navigation, so spoken content can be reached from the same place as the written news.
