A Bangla and English keyboard for everyday chats
Desh Bangla Keyboard is an Android keyboard for people who write in Bangla and English, often in the same message. It handles both languages from one keyboard, so you do not need to switch apps to change scripts.
Most of its features are aimed at messaging, with sticker creation and sharing built in alongside the typing tools.
Typing Bangla by spelling, voice, handwriting or characters
The keyboard offers five input modes: Bengali, Voice, Handwriting, Alphabets and English. In Bengali mode you type words in English letters and the keyboard suggests the Bangla equivalent. Alphabets mode lets you pick each Bangla character yourself, and Handwriting mode takes strokes you draw on the screen.
A language key sits to the left of the space bar. Leave it on to get English-to-Bangla suggestions, turn it off to type plain English, or long-press it to pick between English, Alphabets and Handwriting.
Making and sharing stickers for WhatsApp
Stickers work in WhatsApp and other messaging apps. You can build your own from photos on your phone, or write text stickers in a chosen style.
The keyboard can also browse the stickers in your WhatsApp chats so you can share them again from the same panel.
Fonts, emoji, clipboard and extra keys
The keyboard includes stylish fonts for your text, an emoji row for quick access, and a clipboard for copying and pasting. A number row can be shown above the letters, and holding a key brings up symbols.
These sit alongside the typing modes rather than replacing them, so a fancy font and a Bangla handwriting stroke can be used in the same conversation.
Changing the look, dictionary and key feedback
Themes can be set with a colour, a background or a photo you choose. Settings also include a personal dictionary that stores words you type, plus controls for key vibration and sound.
Together these settings control how the keyboard looks and responds, separate from the input modes covered above.
