What the DW news app covers
DW - Breaking World News is the news app from Deutsche Welle, the German international broadcaster. It is aimed at people who want world news and analysis on a phone or tablet rather than a television or a newspaper.
The listing presents it as a free app. Its subject areas are politics, business, science, culture and travel, and it carries both the day's most important events and longer analysis of them.
Breaking news alerts and daily updates
The app sends push notifications for breaking news, so a story can reach the device without the app being opened first. The notifications are the main way the listing describes keeping up with events as they happen.
Beyond alerts, the app is built around the day's main stories, so a reader can check what has changed since the last time they looked.
Articles, audio and video by topic
Reporting arrives in three forms: written articles, audio and video, all offered directly in the app. A reader can pick whichever format suits the moment, such as listening to a report on the way somewhere or reading an analysis piece at home.
The topics covered are politics, business, science, culture and travel. Analysis sits alongside news on each of these, according to the listing.
Reading in 31 languages without pop-ups
The app is available in 31 languages, which is the most specific language detail the listing gives. It is aimed at readers who prefer to follow international news in a language other than English.
The listing states there are no ads and no pop-ups. It also describes a redesigned interface with new navigation options, although it does not describe the layout in detail.
Who produces the reporting
Deutsche Welle describes itself on the listing as Germany's international broadcaster. Its journalists work in newsrooms across Europe and in other parts of the world, and the app presents their reporting.
The listing presents DW as a reliable source of news and information, which is the developer's own description of the source.
