What Earn to Die Lite is
Earn to Die Lite is a zombie driving game from Not Doppler, and the Lite edition is the free entry point to the Earn to Die series. You start stranded in a desert with a run-down car and very little money, and the goal is to drive through zombies to get out alive.
It suits players who want a driving game where the car is the main thing they improve. The Lite edition is rated USK 16+.
Driving through zombie hordes in a desert
Most of the play is driving forward through groups of zombies. The run-down car you begin with is the only vehicle you have at first, so the early runs are about surviving on what you have.
Money you collect along the way is what lets you change the car. Each run is a chance to earn enough to make the next one easier.
Upgrading and arming your car
Cash can be spent to upgrade, unlock and customise vehicles. The developer lists a gun, boosters and a spiked frame as examples of what you can add to a car.
Upgrades are the core loop of the game. Each addition changes how the car handles the zombies you drive into.
The free Story Mode level
The Lite edition lets you play through the first level of Story Mode at no cost. The rest of the story sits outside the free level.
The developer says the wider Earn to Die series has passed 200 million plays, and the Lite edition is a way to try its driving and upgrade system before going further.
