What Easy Lens is for

Easy Lens is a Lens creation app from Snap Inc., the company behind Snapchat. Snapchat Lenses are the augmented reality effects that run in the camera, and the app is aimed at people who already use them and want to make their own. The listing describes it as being for Lens enthusiasts.

The main idea is that you start by talking to the app about what you want, and it produces the Lens from that. The listing names games, quizzes and makeup looks as examples of what you can make. It also says no technical skills are required, so the app is pitched at people who do not write code.

Finding and browsing existing Lenses

The app lets you look through Lenses in three named groups: beauty, funny effects and immersive experiences. You can use this to see what others have made before deciding to build something similar or to use one as a starting point.

Browsing and remixing connect directly. Once you find a Lens you like, you can change it to suit a different purpose, which the listing describes as personalising it for your own use case.

Building a Lens by describing it to the AI

Creation runs through a conversation. You describe the Lens you want, and the AI generates it from that description. The listing presents this as the way to make a Lens without technical knowledge.

The listing gives three example types: games, quizzes and makeup looks. Those are the only kinds it names, so they are the clearest guide to what the chat is pitched at producing.

Remixing and sharing Lenses with other people

Remixing lets you take an existing Lens and adapt it. The listing frames this as the route to a version that fits a specific purpose of your own, rather than using a Lens exactly as it was published.

When a Lens is ready, you can share it. The listing says sharing reaches Snapchat users and other creators, so a Lens you publish can be found and used by people outside your own circle.
