What FarmVille 3 is and who it suits

FarmVille 3: Farm Animals is a farming simulation for phones. You start with a small homestead and expand it into a village by raising animals, harvesting crops and filling orders for goods.

It suits players who enjoy collecting and slow, daily progression more than fast action. Most of the play revolves around caring for animals, crafting and decorating.

Breeding and caring for animals

Animals are the main collection system. The game lists dozens of species, from chickens, cows, pigs and horses to penguins, alpacas and rare hybrids, with hundreds of animals in total. You breed them to find new and rarer kinds.

Each habitat is built and upgraded for a particular species, and baby animals grow up through feeding and nurturing quests. Rare breeds produce premium resources that unlock more advanced crafting recipes. Some exotic animals are rescued by completing mini-games and special events.

Crafting goods and filling orders

Animals and crops feed a crafting system that makes artisan goods such as cooked dishes, bread, pressed oil, dairy and drinks. Villagers and traders place sale orders, which pay out coins, experience and expansion materials.

Local artisans including blacksmiths, cooks and park rangers unlock new crafting chains. Farmhands such as lumberjacks, bakers and brewers can be leveled up to gain skills and recipes. You can also trade with neighbours or sell goods in your farm's market, and daily quests and seasonal events add to the work.

Decorating and expanding the farm

The farm layout is yours to shape. Hundreds of buildings, structures and ornamental items are available in several styles and seasonal themes. Farmhands and pets can be dressed in outfits and accessories.

Land grows by unlocking zones, starting with the garden and forest. Weather affects harvest timing for crops such as hay, wheat and specialty produce, so the timing of planting and harvesting matters.

Playing with friends and in-game purchases

Co-op farming lets you team up with friends or other players to reach community goals and unlock exclusive animals and items. You can visit other farms, chat, help neighbours with tasks, and take part in seasonal races and leaderboard events. The game can connect to Facebook, and other players may be met through it.

The game is free to download and includes optional in-game purchases, some of which give random items. Drop rates for those purchases are shown in the game. In-app purchases can be turned off in your phone or tablet's settings.
