File Miner is a file recovery app for Android. Its purpose, as the listing puts it, is to find files that are still sitting somewhere on the phone and restore them before the system or other apps remove them for good.
It is aimed at people who have deleted photos, video, audio or documents by mistake, or who find files missing from their phone. The listing describes the app as free.
The build we hold is File Miner - Data Recovery 1.8.9 (APKS split bundle) for Android 7.0 and up.

The deep scan looks past the normal file view into hidden folders, cache folders and temp folders, where files can remain after they are removed from their usual place.
A separate recognition step identifies common document, photo, video and audio formats among the results, so temporarily deleted files of those types are sorted out for you rather than left as unlabelled data.
Before anything is recovered, you can preview the deleted photos, videos and audio the scan turns up. You then choose which ones to restore, so you are not forced to bring back the whole result list.
The listing files this preview step under privacy protection, though it does not say what data is protected beyond the preview and selection itself.
Recovered files can be viewed inside the app. They can also be exported to external public directories on the device, which is how they get out of the app and into folders other apps can reach.
The file vault is a separate place for files you want to keep. The listing says files stored there are not easily deleted, so it works as a holding area for important files you do not want to lose again.
