What the folder widget is for

Folder Widget - Large Folders is a home screen widget for Android launchers. It gathers your apps into one large folder or a single large icon, so a big set of apps sits in one place on the screen.

It suits people with many apps who want a bigger, more visible grid on the home screen than the default folder gives them.

Launching apps from the home screen

A touch on the lower right corner of the folder opens the full folder view. The listing says the widget also lets you reach a specific app directly, without opening the folder first.

Because the folder is a widget, its apps stay visible on the home screen itself, so you can tap through them from there.

Shortcuts beyond opening apps

Each slot in a folder can hold more than an app launch. The listing names quick system settings, in-app shortcuts, files, folders, web pages, activities, accessibility shortcuts, custom schema links, shell commands and popup widgets.

That makes a folder usable as a control panel for settings and files, not just a list of apps.

Choosing grid layouts and widget sizing

The layout options include 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 3+4, 1x5, 2x3, 3x2, a circle layout, a custom MxN grid and a scrolling MxN grid. You can also set the grid size and decide whether icon names show.

Size and spacing are adjustable too: widget width and height, background colour, corner radius, margins and padding. The folder box can scroll vertically when it holds more apps than fit.

Folder name, icons and notification dots

You can hide the folder name or set your own, then change its text colour, size and padding, and add a shadow. Notification dots on the icons can be styled by number.

For icons, the widget supports adaptive icon shapes and icon packs with masks. The folder background can switch to a dark style automatically.
