What kind of game Gear Defenders is

Gear Defenders combines an idle collection game with a tactical defense game. Troops are produced over time rather than trained one at a time, so most of the play is deciding where your units go.

The developer presents it as a game for players who want strategy without a heavy manual workload. It is listed under Strategy with a Everyone 10+ content rating.

Placing soldiers around the Power Core

The core mechanic is a Power Core at the centre of your fortress. You place soldiers around it, and they generate combat units continuously while they stay in position.

Placement is done by dragging and dropping. Each soldier acts as a piece you arrange into a defense line, so the layout you choose controls how fast and which troops your fortress produces.

Troop types, skills and upgrades
