🌍 POWERFUL GPS MAPS AND GPX NAVIGATION FOR YOUR OUTDOOR ADVENTURES
By Irfan Rosli
News editor
GPX Viewer is a GPS track viewer and simple navigation app for hiking, trekking, cycling, mountain biking, trail running and travel. It reads the track formats common in outdoor apps, so a route someone sent you or exported from another tool can be opened directly. Its main job is to show what a route looks like on a map and what the numbers say about it.
It opens GPX, KML, KMZ and LOC files and shows the tracks, routes and waypoints inside them. A built-in file browser handles several files at once and keeps favorites and a history of recently opened files. KMZ and GPX files can be compressed into smaller archives, with GPX going to GPZ and KML going to KMZ.
The build we hold is GPX Viewer: Hike & Bike 1.51.8 (APKS split bundle) for Android 10 and up.

The app calculates distance, speed, elevation gain and other trip statistics from a track. Elevation and speed charts show how these change along the route, so a steep section or a fast stretch is visible without counting it by hand.
Tracks that carry extra sensor data can display cadence, heart rate, power and temperature. Tracks and routes can be colored by elevation, speed or sensor values, and their line colors can be changed. The listing presents this as a way to read a route at a glance on the map.
Base maps come from OpenStreetMap data, and the listing says these are updated regularly. Users can also add their own TMS or WMS map sources. Map styles are offered for city use and for outdoor use, so the same track can be shown on either kind of base map.
For navigation, the app shows the device's real-time GPS position on the map and can follow that position automatically during an activity. The map can rotate to match the device's orientation or the direction of travel. It also sends a notification when the user gets close to a waypoint.
Settings cover the map, navigation behavior, track recording and the display. The listing describes these as options to fit how a person prefers to navigate and record activity.
Tracks and waypoints created on Trackbook (trackbook.com) can be synchronized into GPX Viewer. This gives Trackbook users a way to bring their recorded routes onto the map and into the same statistics and charts.
