What this guitar tuner is for

This is a guitar tuner for Android that lets you tune by ear with built-in reference tones or let the app listen to a note you play. The listing describes it as free with no ads, and it is rated 4.95 from 122,418 ratings.

The developer says its tuning method was built specifically for guitar and aims for high tuning precision. It is aimed at anyone who needs to tune an acoustic or electric guitar, including players who want to practise hearing whether a string is in tune.

Tuning strings by matching reference tones

Tap a note on screen to hear a correctly tuned version of it, then play the same string on your guitar and adjust until the two sound the same. The listing presents this as a way to train your musical ear as well as to tune.

Because you match the sound yourself, this method works without relying on the app to judge your string.

Automatic detection of notes you play

In automatic mode, you play any string and the app identifies the note, then gives hints on which direction to turn the tuning peg. The listing says this is meant to make tuning quicker than working through each string by hand.

The detection works on whatever note you play, so you do not have to pick the string in advance.

Tuning presets, reference pitch and display options

The settings include several guitar tuning variations, a reference frequency you can change, and a choice of notation language. A left-handed mode is listed for players who hold the guitar the other way round, and dark mode changes how the screen looks.

The listing also mentions additional information in the settings and says there is more beyond the main features, without naming them.
