Health Services is a component of Wear OS, Google's operating system for smartwatches. The developer describes it as a layer that other health and fitness apps call on, rather than a standalone app with its own tracking screens.
Fitness apps on a Wear OS watch use it to handle sensors and workouts, so each app does not have to manage that work separately. The listing says apps that depend on it may not work if it is uninstalled.
The component manages the watch's sensors and turns their readings into metrics. The developer lists heart rate, step count, calories and distance as the main ones, with the phrase "and more" indicating other measures are included.
A fitness app reading these values does not need to talk to the sensors directly. Activity figures reach the app through this shared layer.
Health Services handles workout tracking for apps that use it. The listing also names goal setting as one of its functions, so an app built on it can track progress against targets.
