hidemy.name VPN is a paid virtual private network from the developer hidemy.name, which says it has run the service for over 15 years. It sends an Android phone or tablet's internet connection through a server in another country, so websites and online services see that server's IP address instead of the device's own.
The listing points to people who want to browse websites, buy tickets, book hotels or send data as if they were located in a country they choose.
The developer lists servers in Turkey, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia and India, along with other locations. You pick the country whose IP address your traffic uses, and the listing says switching from one server to another takes seconds.
The developer states that the connection adds no extra load to your internet. That is the developer's claim, and it is the only description of speed the listing gives.
While connected, the developer says everything you send over the internet cannot be intercepted. The listing also says the VPN is meant for installing any applications and for preventing theft of personal data.
The developer says it keeps information about users confidential and that the app does not require registration, so you can connect without creating an account.
The service is paid by subscription. A single subscription can be used on up to 5 of your devices at the same time, according to the listing.
This suits someone who wants the same server choice on a phone, tablet and other devices without buying a separate plan for each one.
