Hosanna: The Audio Bible App is a Bible app built around listening. It is published by Faith Comes By Hearing, a nonprofit ministry founded in 1972, and the listing says it carries Bible translations in thousands of languages. The listing also says there are no subscriptions, paywalls or third-party ads. It suits someone who wants to hear the Bible, read it alongside the audio, or watch it, in whichever translation they prefer.

Downloading Bibles for offline use

You can stream any Bible online, or download a full Bible or only the books you need. Before downloading, you choose the sound quality and decide whether background audio is included. Offline Mode lets you keep using the app while using less data, and downloaded content stays available without a connection.

Reading text along with audio and film

Many of the Bibles include text and audio together. In most languages the text follows the recording as it plays, so you can read each chapter while you listen. Video is a separate part of the app: the listing describes Bible films that present the narratives as word-for-word Scripture, all drawn from the translations available in the app.

Finding verses and resuming chapters

Each Bible you use is added to your collection automatically, and you can sort it by most used or recently played to pick up where you stopped. Search by book and chapter, or by words and phrases, to find a specific verse. Within a chapter you can play, pause, skip forward or back, change playback speed and move between chapters.

Text can be adjusted for font size, light or dark theme and footnotes, and a minimized player keeps the audio running while you browse other parts of the app. You do not need an account to read, listen or download many Bibles. A free account adds a few extra downloads and the option to receive updates such as the newsletter.
