Ancient Rome match-3 puzzle game with city building
Jewels of Rome is a match-3 puzzle game set in Ancient Rome, with a city building side running alongside the matching. The developer files it under puzzle games, and it suits people who want a story attached to their matching.
You play as a prefect sent to a struggling settlement at the edge of the Roman Empire. The setting is Mediterranean, and the Roman culture of the period shapes the story and the look of the game.
Matching gems across thousands of levels
The puzzle side is match-3, with gems and jewels arranged on a board. The listing counts thousands of levels, so there is a long run of separate boards to work through.
Each level is its own board, and progress moves you forward through the set. The developer presents matching as the main activity, with the city work built around it.
Rebuilding a village into a Roman city
The city side begins with a small, close-knit village that needs restoring. The listing says you grow it into a sprawling Roman city over time.
The developer describes the matching and the city building as one combined game rather than two separate modes.
Storyline, characters and the Cassius plot
The story begins after a disastrous betrayal by Cassius, the predecessor who held the post before you. The residents need help reviving their community, and the plot is described as full of twists.
Along the way you meet characters the listing calls charismatic. The stated goals include thwarting Cassius' schemes and restoring the settlement's fortunes.
