What the launcher combines

Launcher: Phone & Messages replaces the home screen with one that also carries a phone dialer and a text messaging inbox. The idea is that calls, texts and a few everyday tools sit on the same screen as your apps.

The listed tools include an alarm, a camera, a calculator and general app access. The listing describes it as a home launcher for organizing apps, so it covers both the home screen and the calling and texting side.

Making calls and checking call history

The dialer opens a dial pad for placing calls. Recent calls and missed calls are listed in the call history, and you can search your contacts or call favorite contacts from the same place.

Some of these phone features only work after you set Launcher: Phone & Messages as the device's default Phone app.

Reading and sending text messages

The messaging side shows SMS conversations that you can read and reply to. You can also start a new conversation and pick a contact while composing a message.

The SMS management features need the app to be set as the device's default SMS app. Without that setting, the texting features do not work through this app.

Home screen apps and everyday tools

The home screen gives direct access to apps and tools such as the alarm, camera and calculator, so these are reachable without leaving the launcher. The listing says the aim is one simple screen for the things you open most.

Apps can be organized from the home screen. The listing gives no further detail on layout options or customization.
