Reading.com is a phonics-based reading app from Teaching.com for children in preschool, kindergarten and 1st grade. It is set up for a parent and child to use side by side, with the adult running the lessons and the child taking part in the activities.

The developer says the lessons are fully scripted, so a parent with no teaching background can follow them without preparing.

Phonics lessons from letters to words

The lessons start with letter recognition and move on to letter sounds and then to words. The developer describes them as research-backed.

As a child gets through each stage, the app opens more reading activities. Letter tracing is also named in the listing as part of what the app teaches.

Books, videos, games and printable activities

The unlocked activities include interactive books, videos, reading games and printable worksheets. The printables let a child practise away from the screen.
