LingoTouch is a Mandarin vocabulary app built around illustrated scenes rather than word lists. The developer's scenes include a subway station, a restaurant and a hospital, and the objects in each one are the vocabulary. It suits people who want to learn words they would use in those places, not a general grammar course.
The app is published by Silverdragon Tech PTE. LTD. Each scene is split into three stages: reading, listening and speaking.
In the reading stage, you tap objects in a scene to bring up the Chinese word for each one. The entry shows pinyin, hanzi characters and an example sentence. Native pronunciation audio plays for the word, so you hear it as well as read it.
Because each word sits on the object it names, the vocabulary stays tied to a place. The listing presents this as the main way the app teaches words, in place of flashcards.
The listening stage plays a Chinese word and asks you to find the matching object in the scene. The developer describes this as training your ear to recognise Mandarin pronunciation and tones in context.
Listening comes after reading in each scene, so the words you tapped earlier are the ones you are asked to find by sound.
In the speaking stage, you say the word aloud and an AI coach scores your pronunciation. The listing says it checks your tones and accuracy syllable by syllable, and returns the result straight away.
This feature is the only one the listing describes as AI-based. Scoring covers the word you are asked to say in that scene.
Each scene runs the same sequence: tap and hear the words, identify them by sound, then say them. A word you read about is later heard and then spoken, so one scene covers recognition, listening and production of the same set of objects.
The developer says the scenes are built on real places where Mandarin is used, so the words stay tied to situations a learner would meet.
The build we hold is LingoTouch 1.1.400 (APKS split bundle) for Android 8.0 and up.
