MagentaTV - 1. Generation

What this legacy MagentaTV app covers

MagentaTV - 1. Generation is the earlier version of Telekom's TV app. The developer says it works only with tariffs and bookings made before 15.02.2024. Customers on later tariffs, and BETA customers, are directed to the newer MagentaTV app instead.

Using it requires an internet connection from any provider and a MagentaTV tariff from Telekom Deutschland. The listing is written for existing Telekom TV customers on those older contracts.

Watching live channels on a phone

Mobile viewing needs an LTE or 5G connection. The listing recommends a Telekom smartphone tariff with a sufficient data allowance.

Some channels are restricted for licensing reasons, so the lineup available to you can be narrower than the full list.

Recording broadcasts with Cloud Recorder

Cloud Recorder saves broadcasts to Telekom's servers so you can watch them later. The listing notes that not every show can be recorded this way.

Pausing, restarting and downloading shows

Timeshift & Restart keeps a live broadcast running in the background so you can pause it and return to earlier parts. Download & Play saves selected shows to the device for playback later.

Like Cloud Recorder, these two features do not cover every programme, so availability depends on the individual show.
