A Dutch marketplace for used and new goods

Marktplaats is a classifieds marketplace in the Netherlands for buying and selling used and new goods and services. The Android app covers both sides of it, so you can list an item as a seller or search the full inventory as a buyer.

The listing presents it as a way to trade quickly on a phone, with the same ads and activity available on the website.

Placing and managing your own ads

You place an ad in a free or paid category and attach pictures taken directly from your phone. Ads can be edited or deleted later from My Marktplaats. To give an ad more visibility, you can promote it by placing it on top of a category list, and you can include a link to your own website in the ad.

Interested buyers can contact you by phone, SMS or email. Bids on your ads appear in My Marktplaats, which the listing says stays synchronized between the app and the website.

Finding items with search filters

Search covers the entire Marktplaats inventory. You can narrow results by distance, price, category and product attributes, and distance search surfaces the offers closest to you.

Recent searches are saved automatically, so you can return to a previous search without retyping it.

Bidding, favorites and My Marktplaats

You can place bids on items and manage your active bids in My Marktplaats. Ads you save as favorites are kept there as well, and the listing says you can check them later on your phone or on a desktop.

When you want to talk to a seller, you can reach them directly by phone, SMS or email from the ad.
