Merge fighters, defend your tower & crush waves of enemies in this epic battle!
By Mei-Lin Chua
Contributing editor, apps and storefronts
Match Fighters combines a merge puzzle with tower defense. Each level has two phases: you build an army on a grid, then the battle starts and your fighters face incoming enemy waves.
It suits players who like puzzle planning but want the payoff to be a fight they watch rather than control move by move.
The build we hold is Match Fighters 2.1.5 (APKS split bundle) for Android 6.0 and up.

You drag fighter pieces around a grid to combine them. Lining up three, four or five matching pieces produces a stronger warrior.
L-shaped and T-shaped combinations unlock elite fighters, which the listing says carry more powerful abilities. Your moves are limited, so each merge has to be chosen with the army you want in mind.
Once the army is ready, the battle begins without further input. Your merged fighters engage enemies automatically as they arrive in waves.
The goal is to stop the waves before they reach your tower and keep the castle standing. The outcome depends on how strong the army is when the fight starts.
Boosters can be deployed during a battle, and the listing says they are meant for critical moments. Choosing when to use them is the main control you have once fighting starts.
Since the fighting runs on its own, boosters and the merges you made beforehand are the two levers you pull to shape how a battle goes.
