Mercado Libre: Compras online

What Mercado Libre: Compras online covers

Mercado Libre: Compras online is a marketplace app with a shopping side, a payments side and a free streaming side. Most of it is about buying and selling goods: electronics, clothing, home appliances and car parts, with new and used items both listed. The listing is written for people shopping in Brazil, and its prices are in reais.

The app is for two kinds of user. One is the buyer who wants to compare sellers and pay in instalments. The other is the person with things at home to sell, who wants to list them without paying a listing fee. Anyone who uses the Mercado Pago account or the Mercado Play catalogue will also find those parts sitting inside the same app.

Shopping the 11.11 sale and daily coupons

The listing centres on an 11.11 sale running from 19 October to 11 November. During that period the developer says a new coupon appears each day, with discounts of up to 70% across the catalogue. Coupons are activated inside the app, and the listing says they stack with each visit.

The catalogue is split into broad categories. Technology covers smartphones, notebooks, Smart TVs and game consoles. Fashion covers clothing, trainers and bags. Home covers furniture, decor and appliances. Automotive covers tyres, car parts and accessories. The listing says these categories carry their own sale prices during the event.

Filters for price, location and free shipping are also mentioned in the Spanish-language text on the listing. They let you narrow a search before comparing prices and buyer reviews.

Free shipping and delivery speed

Free shipping starts from R$ 19, according to the listing. The developer describes the delivery network as the fastest in Brazil and says many orders arrive on the same day. A separate line in the listing mentions free delivery within 24 hours, which is worded with an asterisk, so the terms behind it are not spelled out in the text.

The Meli+ benefits add more shipping perks on top of that. Those are described as extra benefits on delivery and on certain purchases, and they sit alongside the other membership-style extras covered below.

Paying with Mercado Pago and instalments

Mercado Pago is the payment side of the app. The listing describes it as a digital account where you can pay online, send Pix transfers and keep money for purchases. You can also store balance in the account and use it to pay.

Card purchases can be split into up to 21 instalments without interest on a Mercado Pago card, according to the listing. The Spanish text also mentions 12 instalments and payment with a debit card, cash, or the money held in a Mercado Pago account. The two sets of figures are both quoted by the developer, so they are reported here as written.

Watching films and series in Mercado Play

Mercado Play is a streaming catalogue built into the app. The listing says it holds thousands of films, series and children's titles, which can be watched free with no extra subscriptions or hidden fees. It is reached from an icon on the main Mercado Libre screen.

On a computer or phone you can watch directly. The Spanish text also says you can cast to a television using Chromecast. Separately, Meli+ benefits are described as giving access to premium services such as Disney+, on top of the free catalogue.

Selling products through the app

Selling is handled from the same app. The listing says you can create a free listing in a few simple steps, and sell new or used items. The Spanish text puts the process at four steps, with ads free to create.

Once listed, the seller manages sales, orders and messages from one screen. A direct chat tool lets you answer buyer questions and agree on shipping. The listing lists selling categories that match the shopping ones, including electronics, clothing, appliances and vehicle accessories.
